About

We are a local cell connected to the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham through prayer and intention. Many cannot make the pilgrimage to ‘England’s Nazareth’ and so the Cell of St Stephens Adamstown serves to encourage devotion following the guidelines of the Shrine:
  1. Local Cells of the Society of Our Lady of Walsingham offer pilgrims to Walsingham an opportunity to strengthen and renew the spiritual benefits of their pilgrimage. The Cell should be a focus of prayer for all within the parish or institution in which it is based. It may also be the means of encouraging others to go on pilgrimage, providing those in need with material and personal assistance where possible

  2. Local Cells are asked to observe the feasts of the Annunciation of the Lord (March 25) and the Assumption of Our Lady (August 15), together with the remembrance of the translation of the image of Our Lady of Walsingham from the Parish Church to the present Shrine in 1931 (October 15). On these days in particular local Cells are asked to pray for the work of the Shrine, and to give thanks for its witness to the mystery of the incarnation. If possible the Cell may meet more frequently to offer Mass for the Shrine and for the objects of the Society:
  • To honour Mary, the Mother of God and to deepen faith in the incarnation of Our Lord.
  • To promote devotion to Our Lady and pilgrimage to Walsingham.
  • To further, with the aid of Our Lady’s prayers, the conversion of the nations and the re-union of Christendom.
  • To seek holiness of life through prayer, the scriptures and the sacraments.

Members of the Society are asked to say the Angelus each day:

V. The angel of the Lord declared unto Mary.
R. And she conceived by the power of Holy Spirit.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

V. Behold the handmaid of the Lord.
R. Be it done unto me according to your Word.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

V. And the Word was made flesh.
R. And dwelt among us.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

V. Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God.
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us pray: Pour forth, we beseech thee, O Lord, Thy grace into our hearts, that we to whom the incarnation of Christ Thy Son was made known by the message of an angel, may by His Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of His resurrection; through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

Glory be…
